“I’m just going to read the book”: Fans react to House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5
House of the Dragon’s plot thickens
The latest episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 has indeed sparked a flurry of speculations and predictions among fans. Episode 5, titled “Regent,” has been particularly noteworthy, as it delves into the aftermath of the epic battle at Rook’s Rest, focusing on character motivations and future plot developments. Fans are eagerly anticipating how the story will unfold from here, although the latest episode has garnered mixed reactions.
Artist Eddie Mendoza brings us the landscapes and castles of Westeros as never seen before, with thirteen stunning illustrations, including a bonus fold-out poster.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5 adds a spooky element
While Game of Thrones has always dealt with blood and horror, House of the Dragon has managed to one-up it with body horror – first with Viserys, and now with Aegon II. Harrenhal has been playing tricks with Daemon, as fans doubt the existence of Alys Rivers. Rhaenyra, on the other hand, is trying hard to establish dominance in her council.
Fans are impressed by the details in Episode 5, but unimpressed by the pacing
Though there was not much action in the episode, “Regent” managed to score a decent 7.8 on IMDb. This is also reflected in fans’ opinions, who are already looking forward to the next episode:

(2,5) is such a perfect example of what we've been saying about the blacks being boring. there have been two episodes of their camp reacting to the death of a very important member and they don't evoke any reaction

This season of House of the Dragon has been painfully mid.
The first series was spot-on, but the recent episodes are slow and plodding, lacking a dynamic structure.

I'm noticing eerie parallels between episode 5 of House of the Dragon and real-world affairs. There's the drive for power, the willingness of leaders to sacrifice civilian life through slaughter to maintain it & use of oversimplified propaganda that fails to fool people #hotd
