Recently, the very first footage from Game of Thrones Season 8 was revealed in the 2019 countdown teaser released by HBO. The next season of Game of Thrones is on its way and like the last year, we’ve been hearing reports about the releasing schedule. We’ve compiled all these reports along with the latest confirmation from Entertainment Weekly. Read on.

Months ago, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) had teased that the final season would air in the month of April in 2019, which was later denied by her. But, Maisie has earlier been known for throwing away the fans, hasn’t she?

Earlier this month the schedule of airing the Final Season of Game of Thrones was also revealed by the HBO programming president – Casey Bloys. It was confirmed to air in the first half of 2019. This gave us some wishful thinking but, Huffington Post’s recent interview with Game of Thrones visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer has once again ignited up our cravings.

Upon being asked if the upcoming series of Game of Thrones will be eligible for the 2019 Emmys with the deadline 31 May, Joe revealed:

“In two years we’ll be eligible for the Season 8 work…which we’re just beginning now…We’re going to be toiling away on Season 8 until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away. But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot. So we’ll still have quite a lot to do on Season 8 when they’re beginning.”

This news has broken the hearts of many fans once again. But, still, we shouldn’t lose hope as  we’ve been assured  once again by Entertainment Weekly that we’ll be getting the series “exactly in the first half of 2019.” According to them:

“GoT  returns for its final six episodes that will air during the first half of 2019. There have been reports over the weekend claiming the show’s return has been “delayed” to mid-2019 making it not eligible for Emmys until 2020. Rest assured, “first half of 2019” means exactly that, and HBO expects the show will air all its episodes in time for the 2019 Emmy eligibility cut off.”

This not only means that Game of Thrones Season 8 will air around April or May 2019 but, also that it will definitely make it in time for the 2019 Emmys. And, we’ll know the rest when HBO decides to make ice-block-reveals and drops more footage!
