Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke to lead Peacock’s new spy thriller series Ponies
From Mother of Dragons to undercover agent
Emilia Clarke is undoubtedly one of the most renowned actors from Game of Thrones. The 36-year-old, famed for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series, has also featured in major franchises like the MCU and Star Wars. She is set to venture into an action thriller with the soon-to-be-released series Ponies.
Emilia Clarke to headline Ponies
Peacock’s Ponies is a collaborative creation by Susanna Fogel, recognized for her work on “The Flight Attendant” and “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” alongside David Iserson. Fogel will direct the series, with Iserson stepping in as the showrunner. Emilia Clarke, apart from her starring role, will also be an executive producer. The team of executive producers is rounded out by Jessica Rhoades, Alison Mo Massey, and Katherine Bridle.

What is Ponies about?
Peacock’s forthcoming espionage series takes place in Moscow, 1977, and centers on two PONIES (an acronym for “persons of no interest” in intelligence slang) who serve incognito as secretaries at the American Embassy. Their lives take a dramatic turn when their husbands die under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, propelling them into the roles of CIA operatives.
Clarke portrays Bea, a well-educated, Russian-speaking woman born to Soviet émigrés, who joins forces with Twila, a straightforward and intrepid girl from a small town. Together, they delve into a deep Cold War conspiracy and seek the truth about the incidents that left them as widows.
