The once-shared alliance now marred by enduring conflict
The relationship between Rhaenyra and Alicent is one marked by profound and intricate animosity, as their once-shared camaraderie has given way to a bitter and enduring rivalry. In a recent interview with Time, Olivia Cooke shared her views on fans cheering for “Rhaenicent” saying,
“Yeah, we’ve been aware of it. There’s been us trying to plot our back story and why there was so much animosity between us—as Emma and I were introduced into the fold as adults. I think it’s when you’re really close to your childhood best friend and how lines can become blurred in that sense. It is this mini relationship and who knows to what effect? But we’ve spoken about that a lot. There has been shipping of our characters.”
Olivia Cooke shipping Rhaenyra and Mysaria’s kiss
Olivia Cooke herself commended the kiss and spoke about it as being amazing. She further explained the value of that kiss by saying that the necessity of maintaining such human connections amidst the backdrop of propriety and conflict was strikingly poignant. She praised saying,
“It was so amazing to see the kiss between Rhaenyra and Mysaria. I thought it was so beautiful, tender, and wanting. That need to be held was so human against the backdrop of propriety and the war.”
