Actor who played Gerold Hightower in Game of Thrones returns in House of the Dragon
A appearance that saw the return of a Game of Thrones actor.
The second season of the Game of Thrones prequel, House of The Dragon, is indeed receiving rave reviews. Fans are particularly enjoying the morally complex characters, which are faithfully adapted from George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. Eddie Eyre, who played Ser Gerold Hightower in Game of Thrones, recently made an appearance in the latest episode.
Eddie Eyre appears in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5
After the Battle of Rook’s Rest, Criston Cole, Gwayne Hightower, and the Green army were seen parading Meleys’ head through King’s Landing. The Green soldier who was announcing Meleys and Rhaenys’ fall is played by Eddie Eyre, who portrayed Ser Gerold Hightower in Game of Thrones.
Who is Gerold Hightower?
During the reigns of King Jaehaerys II Targaryen and King Aerys II Targaryen (The Mad King), Ser Gerold Hightower, popularly known as the White Bull, served as the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. During Robert’s Rebellion in the Red Mountains of Dorne, he, Ser Arthur Dayne, and Ser Oswell Whent were assigned to guard Lyanna Stark at the Tower of Joy in the Song of Ice and Fire trilogy. He fights bravely alongside his two allies against Ned Stark and his six allies before succumbing to his wounds.
During a flashback scene in which Bran uses his three-eyed raven powers to fly back in time, we witness an amalgamation of Ser Gerold and Ser Oswell Whent, as represented by Eddie Eyre in Game of Thrones Season 6. He was supposedly stronger than Jaime Lannister when he was in his prime.
Although Eddie Eyre is playing a Green in House of the Dragon, it’s to be noted that this isn’t the same character which he played in Game of Thrones, although it’s a nice coincidence that he’s previously played a Hightower.
