“Brokeback Winterfell”: Tom Taylor addresses fans shipping Cregan Stark and Jacaerys Velaryon
Do you believe Cregan and Jace are more than friends?
House Stark enthusiasts had long anticipated their return to Winterfell. This eagerly awaited event unfolded magnificently in the premiere of House of the Dragon Season 2. The episode featured Jacaerys strolling atop the Wall alongside the young Lord Cregan Stark, only to be interrupted by the somber news of his younger brother’s demise. However, the brief moment gave fans enough time to ship them together.
Tom Taylor is aware of fans shipping Cregan and Jace together
The Game of Thrones fandom has been known to ship together several characters from George R. R. Martin’s universe. House of the Dragon is no different, and actor Tom Taylor is aware of that. He told EW:
“I’ve seen ‘Brokeback Winterfell’ going around, I think it’s brilliant. Fans, they’re going crazy with stuff. I think it’s so cool that people are so passionate and want to get involved… It was ridiculous, but it was so funny.”

Tom Taylor has confirmed his diminished role in the second season of House of the Dragon
Cregan has made it clear in the first episode that he cannot be involved in the war at present; however, he has sent his men to assist the Blacks. This could suggest his absence for the remainder of the season, a sentiment apparently confirmed by Tom Taylor himself:
“I was just itching to do more, as well. I was in the costume, I was like, ‘I just want to keep acting.’ But, yeah, it’s just a little tease for now.”
Condal, too, pondered Cregan’s involvement later on in House of the Dragon. He said, “We’ll see how that plays. Anybody who reads the books knows that he does play a role in the larger Dance of the Dragons. I would love to have Tom back. We really enjoyed working with him, but I think we need to play the story out a bit and see where it takes us.”
