House of the Dragon Season 2 locations Hightower and Oldtown appeared in Game of Thrones
The Hightowers are one of the key Houses in House of the Dragon, and their importance in the storyline can’t be understated. However, despite being such a major House in Westeros, their presence is negligible in Game of Thrones. However, their seat of power, Oldtown and The Hightower, did appear in Game of Thrones Season 6 finale.
Game of Thrones’ Hightower connection
The Hightowers do appear in small roles in Game of Thrones. Ser Gerold Hightower (Eddie Eyre), for instance, was a member of the Kingsguard during Bran Stark’s Tower of Joy flashback. Leyton Hightower, or the “Old Man of Oldtown,” is the Lord of the Hightower in the Game of Thrones chronology. Margaery and Loras Tyrell are descended from his daughter Alerie. In Game of Thrones Season 6’s final episode, Sam and Gilly go to Oldtown and the Hightower is shown in all its glory.
Gwayne Hightower will play a bigger role in House of the Dragon Season 2
Gwayne Hightower, a knight of House Hightower and a member of King’s Landing’s City Watch, was the brother of Alicent and the son of Otto Hightower. In the show, Freddie Fox portrays the role of him.
Following Otto’s appointment as King Jahaerys I’s Hand of the King, Gwayne and his family relocated to King’s Landing. As one of Alicent’s champions, Gwayne participated in a jousting battle during the book series’ celebration of the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary to Viserys. Still, Ser Criston Cole dismounted him. He will now team up with him for the impending civil war.
