Game of Thrones’ Michael McElhatton plays a violent dad in The Winter Lake

Game of Thrones had some of the most notorious father figures that were portrayed on the big screen. They were feared more than they were respected, even by their own children. Michael McElhatton’s Lord Roose Bolton was one of them, who met his demise at the hands of his bastard. McElhatton will now be seen playing another violent dad in the movie The Winter Lake.
The Winter Lake, which dropped its first trailer last month, is now available to purchase on VOD in the US. The movie is set in Ireland and directed by Phil Sheerin. The film stars Michael McElhatton and Emma Mackey as a father and daughter duo hiding a big family secret. Which looks set to be uncovered when a woman and her emotionally unstable son move to town.
The Winter Lake follows Tom (Anson Boon) and his mother Elaine (Charlie Murphy) as they move into a new house close to a lake. Inside which Tom discovers a sack containing a baby’s skeleton. Hiding the skeleton in his room, Tom and Elaine befriend their neighbours Holly (Mackey) and Ward (McElhatton), who seem a little rough around the edges.
As Tom’s violent tendencies begin to emerge and Holly realises he has discovered her dark secret. The duo is pulled into a deadly confrontation with Holly’s father Ward, who will do anything to keep Tom silent.
Game of Thrones’ Sean Bean also played a father figure in the animated movie The Wolfwalkers. Are you excited about the movie? Tell us in the comments below!
