House of the Dragon’s Emma D’Arcy to star in upcoming suspense short “The Talent”
Emma D’Arcy has won the hearts and favor of viewers, reviewers, and the awards circuit since their debut as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon. The HBO epic is D’Arcy’s first big screen triumph, having previously worked largely in theatre and independent films. They will be returning to their origins with the upcoming short film “The Talent.”
What is The Talent about?
The Talent is a short film directed by Thomas Bailey and stars D’Arcy as Tommy. The official synopsis says:
“On the studio set of a flashy car advert, runner Tommy carries out the menial tasks: making coffees and setting out snacks. He’s entranced by the alluring light of the Virtual Production Stage – a huge LED screen that transports the subject to a beautiful, dreamlike forest. The star of the car advert is Hollywood actor David. David has everything Tommy craves: fame, recognition, talent. Tommy isn’t allowed anywhere near him.
Tommy becomes increasingly convinced that he and David are destined for each other. He just needs David to recognize it too. Throughout, we catch glimpses of a glitzy chat show, in which Tommy and David are interviewed about their longstanding creative partnership. They tell the story of how they first met: when David was filming a car advert… A short film about knowing what you want but not how to get it: when the destination feels so tangible, but the journey there is a mystery.”
Who is in the cast and crew of The Talent?
House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy plays Tommy, a menial runner employed in a gorgeous automobile advertisement. The Hollywood celebrity featured in the advertisement is David, who is played by Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla). Rhianne Barreto (The Outlaws), Karl Queensborough (Enterprice, Hamilton), and David Mills (Florence Foster Jenkins) are part of the larger cast.
When will The Talent be released?
Though the filming was completed in early 2023, The Talent is currently in post-production. We can expect the film to arrive very soon in the coming months in 2023 itself.
