Israeli police arrests the culprit who leaked House of The Dragon’s final episode
Game of Thrones had a bad history of episodes getting leaked prior to the release date. Its prequel, House of The Dragon, also suffered the same fate for a number of key episodes, including the Season 1 pilot and finale. After months of searching, the person behind the theft was finally caught by the Israeli police.
The person who leaked House of The Dragon finale has been caught
According to the news site JNS, a man from the Tel Aviv suburb of Givatayim was arrested on Monday for hacking into HBO servers and leaking the highly anticipated final episode of the first season of House of the Dragon.
The investigation was launched after HBO lodged a complaint about the suspected breach into the company’s servers. The culprit had ‘illicitly’ obtained the confidential season finale episode and distributed it to pirate websites. The hacker’s digital storage devices and computers were seized and will now be presented to the prosecutor’s office.
House of The Dragon finale was leaked two days before the release
House of the Dragon episode 10 titled “The Black Queen” was leaked on piracy websites two days before the official release, which was due last year in October. Despite the leak, 9.3 million viewers watched the episode, according to HBO. HBO issued the following statement to us when the leak happened via email:
“We are aware that the tenth episode of House of the Dragon has been posted on illegal torrent sites. It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region. HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet. We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”
