Emily Carey on her House of The Dragon experience: “You can never truly be ready for this kind of exposure”
Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon has managed to woo the audiences so far. There are a lot of interesting characters, stemming from George R. R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, with intriguing backstories that the author himself labels as being ‘a shade of grey’. As previously mentioned, the plot of the series will mainly be focusing on the show’s two female leads, Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, each sharing a hidden trauma. And the two actresses who played the younger versions of the leads, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey respectively, did a phenomenal job in bringing the two characters to life.
Milly and Emily have sprung to stardom after House of The Dragon’s tremendous success. However, they are still not used to the attention received from fans and media from all over the world. In a recent interview with Stanislava Ivy, the actresses talked about their experience filming the Game of Thrones prequel.
Milly: Something that I’ve been thinking about doing all these press is like, “How do I do it? What do I do? What’s gonna change?” It gets really overwhelming. Will I be able to do this or do that? Also what if you are forever like, “Oh I was the girl from that show and never did anything worthwhile. It’s that. It’s really scary.
Emily: I think everyone tries to prepare you. I mean we had the whole rehearsal period where people were preparing us for the job, but it’s never what you expect. I don’t think you can ever truly be ready for something like this kind of exposure. It’s a lot.
