10.2 million people watched House of the Dragon episode 2 — Higher than the premiere
House of the Dragon Episode 2 was on fire with 10.2 million viewers. That number marks a 2% increase from the show’s premiere on August 21.
The initial numbers for House of the Dragon’s premiere were great, but it left some wondering if it could keep up the momentum. So far, it looks like the answer is a resounding yes. On Monday, reports echoed that the premiere episode, “The Heirs of the Dragon,” has been viewed nearly 25 million times in the U.S. in the week since it aired.
The debut of House of the Dragon has had the side effect of viewership for Game of Thrones– last week saw a 30% increase. This growth trend has been going on for a week now.
With that being said, House of the Dragon is based on the book Fire & Blood (2018) by George R. R. Martin. The series is positioned 200 years before Game of Thrones. It centers on the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war within the Targaryen dynasty.
The cast includes Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Emily Carey, and Eve Best. It also includes Fabien Frankel, Steve Toussaint, Sonoya Mizuno, Milly Alcock, Emma D’Arcy, and Olivia Cooke.
