George R.R. Martin’s Night of The Cooters wins the ‘Best Science Fiction Short’ at the LA Shorts International Film Festival

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin is one of the most celebrated writers today. Martin has several projects under work right now, along with his next ASOIAF novel, The Winds of Winter. He is also involved in the development of several Game of Thrones spinoffs, including the upcoming House of The Dragon, and has also produced the short ‘Night of The Cooter‘, which recently won the award of the Best Sci Fi feature at the LA Shorts International Film Festival.
Martin was to visit two premieres in Los Angeles, prior to falling sick due to Covid after attending the SDCC 2022. He expressed his remorse in a video on his blog about not being able to attend the premieres, one of which was the World Premiere for House of The Dragon.
George R.R. Martin produced a short film called Night of the Cooters a few weeks ago. Vincent D’Onofrio directed and starred as the sheriff in the town of Pachuco, Texas, which becomes the site of a Martian invasion. It’s an adaptation of a 1987 science fiction novel by Howard Waldrop. After Martin backed out of the Night of the Cooters premiere at the LA film festival, Vincent stepped up to represent the crew.
Martin has been recovering pretty quickly from the symptoms, as he recently updated his fans in the video above. Congratulate the author on his latest win in the comments below!
