Aberdolf Strongbeard killed 142 Lannisters in the Battle of King’s Landing in the final season of Game of Thrones!
Game of Thrones‘ success was the result of the combined efforts of everyone present on the set, the cast, the crew, the extras, each one of them. However, one extra stands out amongst the rest, in fact, he is known as the face of the extras on Game of Thrones. Andrew McClay, who played Aberdolf Strongbeard on the show from season 5 till the end of the series, got special attention in the Game of Thrones documentary for his services. His contribution, both on and off-screen, was equally impressive.
In a recent interview with Game of Laughs, Andrew revealed how many Lannisters he had killed in the Battle of King’s Landing in the final season, and his tally might surprise you. He enumerated:
“I must say, about 142 Lannisters. To be honest man, I lost my sword pretty early on, so I had to just use my teeth and my nails. But I took em out man. I was like ripping heads off and kicking them over walls and stuff like that. You know what I mean. I had killed even more Boltons at the Battle of Bastards, so I was like yeah. But that one, when the King’s Landing was in fire, it was just crazy. Because you don’t see on camera, just above of us were buckets dropping flame and rubble. And Vladimir was walking through the city and he’s like “Okay guys you walk here, do not step here cuz you will die, okay? And you come this way, go around here.”
“Whenever they shouted action, we started running through and the guys who were playing Lannisters were pretty much all new actors, because the Lannisters from season 7 were all from Spain, because that’s where the battle from Season 7 was shot. So these new Lannisters were frigging killed and we were running through and smashing them. So if you go and tell them that you’re gonna run through and smash their heads they’ll be like, “Yeah! Yeah man! That’ll look pretty good!” They really sold it.”
