5 Game of Thrones stars become the highest-paid actors in TV history with a £2 million per episode salary
Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows in the world, and the cast is no less than spectacular. While George R. R. Martin‘s story does provide a strong backbone to the show, which is strengthened by the vision of the showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the show still wouldn’t be as good without the stars of the show. We know for a fact that the show being as big as it is, it pays its stars quite handsomely. We has previously reported about the main stars of the show getting paid half a million dollars per episode, and then about them renegotiating their contracts to get paid $1 million per episode for Season 7 and Season 8, but a new report now says that the stars might get paid more than twice of that! Read on!
The five main Game of Thrones stars in question are of course,Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow),Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lanister). A new report by Express.co.uksays that the five have now signed a new “monster” deal that will earn them up to £2 million ($2.5 million) an episode. They seem to have signed golden contracts for the remainder of the series, which include bonus clauses will will give the five, shared percentages of syndication profits from the series broadcasts in over 170 nations, worldwide. This will apply to not only fresh episodes airing, but also to reruns of the show, which, let’s face it, happen a lot.
Media analyst Mike Raia, commenting on this news, said:
“Cable network HBO is breaking the bank to ensure its most successful scripted programme ever goes out with the kind of flourish fans all over the world have come to expect.”
What do you think about this pay raise? We think the stars totally deserve it. Talk to us in the comments, down below!
