Elden Ring creator describes how Game of Thrones fans will recognize George R. R. Martin’s familiar touch in the game's lore
George R. R. Martin is one of the most celebrated writers in the world today. The TV adaptation of his work, Game of Thrones, has been dubbed the greatest TV show of the 21st century. Fans of the highly popular TV series are familiar with his work, especially how he writes intrinsically complicated political drama alongside the most tragic deaths. He has teamed up with Hidetaka Miyazaki, the influential creator of the video game series Dark Souls, to create Elden Ring. Miyazaki told Entertainment Weekly why Game of Thrones fans will recognize Martin’s magic touch while exploring the game’s lore.
“George R.R. Martin wrote the original mythos for this game,” Kitao said through a translator. “He created a backstory or a history that takes place many, many years before the events of the game itself, and he wrote this in collaboration with Miyazaki. They consulted and they discussed and they exchanged ideas, but George Martin was the spearhead of that writing process initially.”
Kitao continued, “Once that original mythos was complete, George R.R. Martin was kind enough to leave that in our hands, so to speak, and to do with that what we will.”
“George provided this lineage or these character bloodlines and, in true George fashion, he created a lot of political intrigue and a lot of these familial ties that shaped a lot of our characters in the game world currently as it stands. It was a really interesting process, and it felt unrestricted despite him having written this key piece.”

Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been largely successful in wooing its audience, breaking records in terms of popularity, viewership and box office earnings. The latest instalment to the ever sprawling cinematic universe is soon to hit the silver screen, and fans are already hyped up about it. Game of Thrones fans are doubly excited, as the show’s alums Kit Harington and Richard Madden are finally making their MCU debut. However, when it comes to revealing details, Marvel has been known to be ridiculously mum. So much so that even the actors know nothing about the script.
In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Harington confessed that he didn’t know much about his Eternals character when he was cast for the part.
He said, “I didn’t get sent a script. I just got sent, ‘This is who you’re playing.’” So I was like, ‘Okay.’ So I just had to Google the character. This is you know, a hell of a way to kind of work out who you’re playing. I Googled him. He’s a character called Dane Whitman, and I realized he has a sword and rides a horse. And I was like, ‘I know this guy. I’ve been this guy.”

Social media platforms have become an integral part of our lives. Almost all celebrities use different apps and websites to keep their fans up-to-date about their activities and to interact with them. Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington is an exception to that rule, as the actor is not active on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook despite his global popularity as Jon Snow. And he has some really good reasons as to why he avoids them.
“I don’t loathe social media, I just don’t entirely trust it. And with that I mean I don’t trust myself on it. I don’t think it’s going to be very good for my mental health. I just avoid it and I find an easier way of living my life. Plus, I think my wife would take the p*** out of me every day if I went on social media. So, I’m just not going to suffer that,” Harington told PTI in a group interview.
Earlier in a similar interview, Harington opened up about his mental health issues and how he dealt with them. He confessed falling prey to addiction and depression after Game of Thrones ended.

Some actors are so good at playing their roles, they become one in the eyes of the public. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is rose to fame when his character Jon Snow became a household name after the show’s tremendous success. However, playing the role for nearly a decade hasn’t been easy for the 34-year-old actor.
In a promotional interview for the series Modern Love, Kit talked to PTI about his career plans. He said, “I’m terrible at answering this question because I never really got much of a plan. I just go where the writing looks good and the thing works with my life. And I try and pick the parts that I find interesting.”
“I did this (Modern Love) because it was a bit lighter. You know, for 10 years I did possibly the least comic character on TV. Like literally could not crack a joke. And when they did give me a joke, it just didn’t work. So, doing something like Modern Love, where there’s a bit of humour and lightness, just felt like a very refreshing thing to do.”
“I love the anthology stuff. This is an anthology piece. I did Criminal, which I loved. I’m doing another piece of this, which is quite similar.
“It kind of gives me the opportunity to jump in, tell this little story and get out. And then that little tiny chamber piece exists and hopefully speaks to people. But it’s very manageable,” Harington said.
