Maisie Williams starrer 'The New Mutants' gets its release date pushed again, to August 28
The Coronavirus pandemic has shaken up the entire world. Just like every other aspect of our lives, even the entertainment industry has not been spared by the virus. Plenty of movies and series have already been moved as the productions were halted. However, there is some good news for the fans. A few of the movies that were scheduled to release earlier this year including Maisie Williams starrer The New Mutants now have a release date. Read on!
Disney recently announced that few of its pending movies like Mulan, Black Widow, and The New Mutants now have a release date. While Mulan will hit the theatres on July 24th, Black Widow will be releasing on November 6th. As per The Verge, The New Mutants has been scheduled to release on August 28th.
The New Mutants has been waiting for its release for years now and it was finally going to release in April this year. However, as fate would have it, the coronavirus pandemic arrived and the film had to be pushed once again.
The film went to the production in 2016 and finished filming in 2017. However, the film owned by Fox then kept getting pushed to give chance to other films to succeed. The synopsis states that the film is based on a group of young mutants who have been held for monitoring. It states:
“The horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.”
The film also consists of a same-sex relationship between the character played by Maisie Williams and co-star Blu Hunt. It is path-breaking in many ways for a film under the Marvel’s banner.
It’s a shame that fans have had to wait for the film for such a long time. Now that it has a release date we hope that it doesn’t get pushed further and we get to root for our favourites.
