The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which had put everything in Hollywood on hold, including highly anticipated series and films, have come to an end thanks to a settlement that will have an impact on all writers and actors in the business, regardless of the network they work for. This is encouraging news for the industry as well as for fans who have been waiting for the release of their favorite series and movies, like The Last of Us.

The Last of Us Season 2 begins filming in early 2024

The second season of the highly-anticipated HBO epic will be back on track soon. It was confirmed by actor Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, in a recent interview with Collider. They said:

“[We begin shooting] next year. No, I do actually know. I mean, I temporarily know. Things are changing all the time, I think with the strikes, obviously now they’re finished, that’s amazing and we can actually get going and we can talk about it, but I think it’s delayed a couple of things, and availability and stuff. So we’ll see, but it will happen at some point early next year, which is exciting.”

The Last of Us showrunner also hinted at early production

Following the end of the WGA strike, several large media companies are pressuring the quick progress of their big projects. Unquestionably one of them is The Last of Us on HBO. Showrunner Craig Mazin posted on X as soon as the negotiations were concluded:
