HBO is currently developing eight more Game of Thrones spinoffs other than House of the Dragon
HBO currently views House of the Dragon as a high-priority project. However, the Targaryen civil war was not the only idea under development. There were a few more; some are in different stages of development and some are not in production any longer. The last to be confirmed was a prequel series based on George R. R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas.
Eight more Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works
In his recent chat with Bangcast, Martin revealed the current condition of all the Game of Thrones spinoffs at HBO, “In televison we have the new show, House of the Dragon, which has just finished filming its second season, and we’re going to be planning for the third season soon. But I also have like eight other spin-off shows that we’re developing. The Dunk and Egg show has been greenlit. The others, not yet, but we’re still working on them.”
SNOW and other Game of Thrones spinoffs are in early stages
It has long been known that HBO is currently working on multiple Game of Thrones spinoffs, with George R. R. Martin serving as the creative head. The Jon Snow sequel directed by Kit Harington was one of the projects she abandoned during the WGA strikes. At a recent press conference, HBO executive Casey Bloys stated:
“We always have Game of Thrones scripts in development. We greenlit Dunk and Egg in the spring. I wouldn’t say there is anything else in that world that is close to a green light or anything, but we are always working on different scripts and ideas.”
