George R. R. Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, has really been a true upholder of the fantasy genre. The books are believed to be the best work of fantasy since Lord of the Rings. An important part of a good fantasy is making sure it sets itself apart from reality, and a key component of that involves languages. Since we are already on our way to return to the world of Westeros, it is a good time to brush up on our High Valyrian skills.

A visit to the world of Westeros is quite dangerous without a sword. However, there’s a way you can actually win a Valyrian steel sword right before you begin to watch the House of The Dragon. Start learning the High Valyrian language. To honor the new Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, Duolingo is launching an epic Valyrian Steel Challenge. From season premiere to season finale, High Valyrian learners will battle it out on the leaderboard to see who can earn the most XP. The prize? A Valyrian steel sword – The Streak Keeper.

As we already know, HBO has announced an official partnership with the language learning app Duolingo, which has been the no.1 app around since the time of Game of Thrones to learn all kinds of languages, even fictional ones like Dothraki and High Valyrian. If you think you’ve got what it takes to win the Valyrian Steel Challenge, you can sign up right here.

So what are you waiting for? Download the app right now and get your own Valyrian sword!
