Richard Madden recalls “A lot of crying” while filming The Red Wedding episode of Game of Thrones
The Red Wedding is one of the most shocking moments in the entire show. Richard Madden, known for playing Robb Stark in Game of Thrones, recently opened up about The Red Wedding at the premiere of his Amazon Prime Video series “Citadel.” So let us take a look at what exactly happened during the filming of the episode!
What happened during the shoot of The Red Wedding?
In an interview with Variety, Richard Madden talked about his last moments in Game of Thrones, “I remember a lot of crying because at the end of it, I was going to be apart from my family that I had lived with for five years — my on-screen mother and my wife and this crew that had spent a lot of time together, so it was traumatic not only to shoot but traumatic because I was losing my family,”
Madden was also asked if he has watched HBO’s spinoff “House of the Dragon,” and the actor replied, “I’ve been very busy doing other things, but I’ll get around to it,”
Why is The Red Wedding so iconic?
The Red Wedding was a massacre that took place that was arranged by Lord Walder Frey as revenge against Robb Stark, for breaking the marriage pact between House Stark and House Frey. Key characters of the show were murdered and it also showed the greatest betrayal of all time in television history. The Red Wedding included the slaughter of Robb Stark, his mother Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), his bride Talisa Stark (Oona Chaplin) and their unborn child.
Madden’s most recent project is a role in the new Amazon series, “Citadel” which is an action spy thriller. He stars opposite Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and the series premiered last month.
