Great news for Game of Thrones fans as Peter Dinklage has won the Emmy award for best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series! The hit HBO series received a record 32 Emmy nominations and for the Supporting Actor category, Dinklage had competition from his co-stars, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy).
Dinklage has created an Emmy record by winning the supporting actor award for the fourth time. Peter Dinklage, who played the role of Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones has previously won the Emmy award for best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Earlier Dinklage was tied with Aaron Paul, who won 3 Emmys for his role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad.
Peter Dinklage has also won the Golden Globe Award in 2012 for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the first season of Game of Thrones.
“I count myself so fortunate to be a member of a community that is all about tolerance and diversity, because in no other place would I be standing on a stage like this,” said Dinklage while accepting the award.
He further added, “Ten years of absolute sweat, but 10 years of the most incredible, talented, funniest. Hey, it’s over, I don’t care — I have ever been lucky enough to work with. We did nothing but sweat, we did nothing but laugh. David and Dan, we literally walked through fire and ice for you, literally, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.”
