The reaction to the second season of House of the Dragon has been pretty lukewarm. There were a lot of criticisms regarding the pacing and lore inaccuracies from Fire & Blood. As HBO and George R. R. Martin stay in constant disagreement with each other, the show’s star, Matt Smith, recently spoke up on the Season 2 criticisms.

Matt Smith chooses not to take a side

The controversy surrounding the second season of House of the Dragon has gained a lot of traction. In a recent interview with The Times, Matt Smith was asked how he felt about the slow pacing of Season 2. Smith said, “I am a mere actor. I turn up and say my lines.” He also confirmed that he will be in Season 3, “Well, I’m definitely in the next one.”

Game of Thrones’ Kristian Nairn preferred first season of House of the Dragon

Game of Thrones alum Kristian Nairn (Hodor) also pointed out noticeable changes in the quality of House of the Dragon’s seasons. In a recent interview, he said,

“I really enjoyed it, but I preferred the first season,” Nairn said. “It felt more Game of Thrones to me in the first season. So don’t get me wrong, don’t misquote me, I did enjoy it, but. To me, the first season just felt like the next episode of Game of Thrones, only it was in the past. This season felt like a whole new show to me. Still good, but it didn’t feel like Game of Thrones.”
