Matt Smith casted as Daemon Targaryen in HBO's House of The Dragon
Artists with extreme talent increase the attraction of the crowd to a show by manifold. Game of Thrones was the biggest show of the decade, it’s prequel is sure to cause a stir. HBO is leaving no stone unturned in creating hype for the show’s prequel House of The Dragon. After announcing Paddy Considine as King Viserys for the series, the network has added to the hype by casting for more important roles. Matt Smith, who will play Daemon Targaryen, is one of them.
Smith has already made headlines as the eleventh incarnation of Doctor Who. He has already been cast for Marvel’s Morbius as well. HBO is going really hard for this show, going for the best actors. After all, they have to live up to Game of Thrones’ reputation!
Daemon Targaryen is the younger brother to the King Viserys Targaryen. He is described as a middle-aged man, between 40 to 50 years of age. He was in line to the throne, but he never expressed his desire for it directly. The Prince is said to be constantly obsessed with earning the love and acceptance of his brother, the King. He gets bored very easily but is really skilled with a sword. He is a seasoned warrior who keeps swinging between good and vile nature.
Besides Matt as Deamon Targaryen, HBO has cast two more key players: Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy. They’ll play Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen respectively.

The producers have chosen Toussaint to play Lord Corlys Velaryon, the lord of his own namesake house. He also happens to be ‘the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros’, with the world’s largest navy at his disposal. This feat has earned him the nickname ‘The Sea Snake’. Best is playing his wife, Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, who is also the dragon-riding cousin of Westeros’ new king, Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine). Rhaenys was snubbed for the throne because of her gender, which prompts some to refer to her as ‘The Queen Who Never Was’.
Ifans is co-starring as Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, who believes that Viserys’ brother, Daemon (Matt Smith) is the biggest threat to the realm. Whatever Daemon’s planning, he’ll have help from his ‘most trusted’ ally, Mizuno’s Mysaria.
The roles of King Viserys, Daemon Targaryen, Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen have already been cast earlier. Are you excited about the prequel series? Tell us in the comments below!

The hopes are very high with the new vaccines undergoing trials. Many people are having a fresh start in the year 2021. The limited series will be based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir. Williams is set to play model, superfan and “punk icon” Jordan (aka Pamela Rooke) in the six-episode series. The story is inspired by guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol.
“Imagine breaking into the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your mates and screaming your songs and your fury at all they represent,” said Boyle. “This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever.”
“It is the detonation point for British street culture… where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion… and everyone had to watch and listen… and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols.”
He added, “Steve Jones was at the center of the storm that shook the rock establishment and we’re thrilled to have Danny and the rest of the creative team tell his story as a member of one of music’s most notorious bands – the Sex Pistols.”
The Sex Pistols begins production on March 7. No release date has been announced yet. Are you excited about the biopic series? Tell us in the comments below!
