Kit Harington teases Game of Thrones season 7 in an interview. Says it will 'break boundaries'
Game of Thrones Season 7 has been on a delayed schedule as compared to all earlier seasons, with the filming having finished at the end of February. It is the first season to have it filming continue into the same year as that of the premiere. The premiere date of Season 7 was announced to be July 16th, recently, and it seems like we haven’t quite seen the last of the hype. Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, took the responsibility of hyping up the next season, in an interview recently. Read on!
In a phone interview with The Huffington Post, Kit talked about Season 7 of Game of Thrones. Firstly, he was asked if Season 7 was “worth it.” He responded saying :
“Yes, I’m gonna say, ‘Yes.’ I mean I hope it is. I certainly did more this season than I’ve ever done. I think every actor on it did more action, had more action, had more scenes. They really focused it because less characters are coming in, and they’re focusing in on the existing ones, and there are lots of people who cross paths, and that’s something that I think the audience has been waiting for for a long time.”
He went on to say :
“They spent an increasing amount of money on less episodes, so it’s gonna be much bigger in scale, the CGI … we’re trying new things, experimenting with new camera techniques. I think we’re trying to break boundaries and push past boundaries in these final two seasons.
You have to live up to the hype that’s surrounded the show and the worst thing would be to end without really pushing and trying new things. Even if it’s a failure, at least trying to go out with a bang.”
Kit has been taking on a fair share of projects other than Game of Thrones, but he seemed aware of the fact that Jon Snow will be sticking to him as he moves forward with his career. He said :
“Most roles I go into I have the same appearance, so you’re never going to drift completely away from a viewer who’s watched ‘Thrones’ and loves ‘Thrones.’ They’re always going to see an element of me, which is the character of Jon Snow. I’m never going to get away from that so, for me, I don’t try and fight against a character like Jon Snow.”
He said that he was, however, trying to play a range of characters, to avoid getting typecast. Talking about his latest project, Brimstone, which is a horror film starring Dakota Fanning who plays a woman being pursued and haunted by a man, played by Guy Pearce. The movie also stars Carice van Houten, who played Melisandre on Game of Thrones, and is the real life partner of Guy Pearce. Kit plays an antihero character named Samuel. Talking about this, he said :
“I spend half the year playing a surly hero, and the other half of the year I quite like trying a different type of character, and this, he’s a short but powerful part of the film in the girl’s life, and he’s an antihero, but she changes him and he leaves the film trying to save her. I found that really interesting. Brief, but really interesting character development to explore.”
Looks like the King in the North is picking his battles carefully! What do you think is happen to Jon Snow in Season 7? Talk to us in the comments, below!
