Kit Harington had no idea about his sword-wielding character in Eternals prior to his casting
Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been largely successful in wooing its audience, breaking records in terms of popularity, viewership and box office earnings. The latest instalment to the ever sprawling cinematic universe is soon to hit the silver screen, and fans are already hyped up about it. Game of Thrones fans are doubly excited, as the show’s alums Kit Harington and Richard Madden are finally making their MCU debut. However, when it comes to revealing details, Marvel has been known to be ridiculously mum. So much so that even the actors know nothing about the script.
In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Harington confessed that he didn’t know much about his Eternals character when he was cast for the part.
He said, “I didn’t get sent a script. I just got sent, ‘This is who you’re playing.’” So I was like, ‘Okay.’ So I just had to Google the character. This is you know, a hell of a way to kind of work out who you’re playing. I Googled him. He’s a character called Dane Whitman, and I realized he has a sword and rides a horse. And I was like, ‘I know this guy. I’ve been this guy.”

Social media platforms have become an integral part of our lives. Almost all celebrities use different apps and websites to keep their fans up-to-date about their activities and to interact with them. Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington is an exception to that rule, as the actor is not active on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook despite his global popularity as Jon Snow. And he has some really good reasons as to why he avoids them.
“I don’t loathe social media, I just don’t entirely trust it. And with that I mean I don’t trust myself on it. I don’t think it’s going to be very good for my mental health. I just avoid it and I find an easier way of living my life. Plus, I think my wife would take the p*** out of me every day if I went on social media. So, I’m just not going to suffer that,” Harington told PTI in a group interview.
Earlier in a similar interview, Harington opened up about his mental health issues and how he dealt with them. He confessed falling prey to addiction and depression after Game of Thrones ended.

Some actors are so good at playing their roles, they become one in the eyes of the public. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is rose to fame when his character Jon Snow became a household name after the show’s tremendous success. However, playing the role for nearly a decade hasn’t been easy for the 34-year-old actor.
In a promotional interview for the series Modern Love, Kit talked to PTI about his career plans. He said, “I’m terrible at answering this question because I never really got much of a plan. I just go where the writing looks good and the thing works with my life. And I try and pick the parts that I find interesting.”
“I did this (Modern Love) because it was a bit lighter. You know, for 10 years I did possibly the least comic character on TV. Like literally could not crack a joke. And when they did give me a joke, it just didn’t work. So, doing something like Modern Love, where there’s a bit of humour and lightness, just felt like a very refreshing thing to do.”
“I love the anthology stuff. This is an anthology piece. I did Criminal, which I loved. I’m doing another piece of this, which is quite similar.
“It kind of gives me the opportunity to jump in, tell this little story and get out. And then that little tiny chamber piece exists and hopefully speaks to people. But it’s very manageable,” Harington said.

It is always a delight to see our favourite Game of Thrones stars on other shows. Game of Thrones star Tobias Menzies, who played Edmure Tully on the show, has teamed up with Sophie Okonedo for Amazon’s Modern Love Season 2.
The duo plays divorced parents trying to reignite a lost flame in the second season of the show. In a recent interview with Collider, Menzies explains why he was drawn to the script of Modern Love.
“I read the article and listened to the podcast, which is a reading of the article as well, and got the vibe of the New York Times article itself. That’s where I started. We’re doing a dramatization, but it was nonfiction when it was published, so it’s this couple’s real life. That inherently drew me into it.”
When he was asked about his experience working with Sophie, he said, “She’s really one of the best actors I’ve worked with. She is really authentic, very honest about stuff, and really insists that it happens in front of the camera. You can’t fake it, which is a really galvanizing, energizing thing to be around. It’s exciting.”
“We had a similar way of working. We were both interested in digging into the script with Kieran [Carney] and John [Carney], in the week or two leading up to it, and talking about possible changes or whether there was stuff that we could cut, and they were open to that too. That side of it, I definitely find that helpful, as a way into material where there could be some push and pull and some conversation around the actual material itself. You never quite know when you head into these things, but it was a pretty happy collaboration.”
