“I’ve never had so many laughs” says David Bradley about filming the Red Wedding
Game of Thrones has been that show that has put us through emotionally harrowing scenes over the years, and there is one that is still notorious for being the worst of the bunch : The Red Wedding. Many of the fans literally cried at this scene, but apparently the filming process was quite hilarious. David Bradley, who played the role ofWalder Frey, recently talked about it to the Daily Telegraph. Read on!
Now in case you don’t remember the Red Wedding, it’s the scene where Walder Frey had Robb Stark, his wife, Talisa, and mother Catelyn Stark, killed while they were at the dinner he invited them to. Speaking of filming the Red Wedding scene, Bradley said :
“I’ve never had so many laughs. It took a whole week to do it with the different stab wounds and the preamble speech, which I found funny.
The guy’s got a sense of humour about luring people in with bread and salt. I should imagine Stalin had quite a good time inviting people he knew weren’t going to be leaving the building.”
We can imagine how it could have been funny while filming it, now that Bradley has explained it. The scene made his character a widely hated one, and when he returned in Season 6, everybody immediately wished him dead, and the wish came true. Arya Stark is seen murdering him in a revenge plot that satisfied us all. Speaking of that, Bradley said :
“I’ve had taxi drivers wind down their window and say ‘I can’t forgive you for what you did!’ Now I’ve gone people say ‘sorry to see you go’. No, you’re bloody not!”
Well, it would be fun to watch a grumpy old Walder Frey be back as a wight, but let’s not add insult to that injury! What did you think about this? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
