Issac Hempstead Wright talks about Game of Thrones fan theories. Says some of them might be right
Game of Thrones Season 7 is running past the usual schedule this year, with premiere date set for July 16th, as it was recently announced. Season 6 ended with a lot of characters having massive cliffhangers in their storylines, and Bran Stark, was one of them. He is now supposed to be the Three-Eyed Raven, while having lost Hodor, and being left in the company of Meera Reed, while being crippled, and on the wrong side of The Wall (Man, the kid can’t catch a break, can he?) Issac Hempstead Wright, who plays the role of Bran Stark on the show, recently talked about various fan theories, in an interview. Read on!
There are way too many fan theories in the Game of Thrones fandom, and while some of them might have been ridiculous, some of them have stood the test of time to be eventually proved right. Now, with Bran Stark being recognized as a key character on the show, many a theories have sprung up around him. Issac Hempstead Wright recently took some time out to discuss some in an interview with the Huffington Post, while he was at the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience at Madison Square Garden. In his first response about fan theories, he said :
“God, I love it.”
So do we, Issac. So do we. He said that he had read about the theory about Hodor’s origin story. Talking about the same, he said :
“I remember reading when I got sent the script for Season 6, and it had Hodor’s death in it. I thought, ‘God, this is amazing. Let me Google this to see if anyone came up with a theory,’ and of course there was some guy on some forum somewhere who had come up with ‘hold the door,’ ‘hold the door.’ It was in a slightly different context, but he got it absolutely dead-on, so it’s like anything really could happen.”
Issac Hempstead Wright also said that the accuracy of the theories impressed him. When asked if the theories he has been reading now have managed to hold the same effect, or if they had lost their accuracy, Issac said :
“No, there are times you read it and go, ‘Holy shit! Yep, they’ve got it.’”
He also mentioned that as of now, he had no idea how the series will wrap up :
“Even though we’ve just shot Season 7, you have no idea how it’s gonna end or what’s gonna happen in Season 8, so I love going online and seeing what people are coming up with.”
He was questioned about three important fan theories, as well. First off, was the theory which says that Bran built the Wall, considering that he can have an effect on the past. Not to forget the fact that the Wall has been said to be built by a guy named Bran the Builder. When asked about this one, Issac said :
“Yeah, I read a lot of that. Sounds cool. I don’t know to be honest. Anything is a possibility with ‘Game of Thrones.’”
Another theory states that at one point, Bran will warg into a dragon. The basis for this theory comes from the fact that the Three-eyed Raven told him, “You’ll never walk again, but you will fly.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s cool! That’d be up there on my list of things I’d like to be … dragon, number one.
You’ll have to watch and find out.”
Lastly, he was asked about the theory which suggested that Jon Snow has a twin, and it is none other than Meera Reed, Bran’s companion in his journey. He apparently has discussed this one with Ellie Kendrick, who plays Meera Reed on the show.
“I love this.
I’ve talked to Ellie about this, who plays Meera, and she was saying she thinks it’s more the show. Because she and Kit look quite similar, because in the books I don’t think [they do]. I love that idea because it does make sense because Howland Reed is that last guy.”
Indeed.
It is nice to know that the stars are reading up the obsessive, and at times, crazy stuff us fans put out there. What did you think about Issac Hempstead Wright’s take on these theories? Talk to us in the comments, below!
