House of The Dragon Episode 8 Preview foreshadows the struggle for Driftmark
The seventh episode of Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is finally here. It begins on a tragic note, a funeral ceremony meant to honor Laena Velaryon, who died a dragon rider’s death in episode 6. However, as any Game of Thrones fan would know, these deaths are just the tip of the iceberg, and a lot more is to come. Episode 7 featured the death of another major character, and there’s a chance we will see even less of a few more in the coming episodes.
After the deaths of Laena and Laenor, Lord Corlys Velaryon and his wife Rhaenys are left heirless. The preview of episode 8 of House of The Dragon shows another struggle, this time for the seat of Driftmark, which means the life of Corlys is in extreme peril.
As soon as there’s a sign that the seat of Driftmark is up for grabs, Corlys’ brother Vaemond decides to make a claim for it. Opposite to him are both Rhaenys and Rhaenyra, who put forth their own claim, but ultimately unite and have a toast, setting aside their differences. The ending of the preview is worth noticing, as the seeds of the civil war that is to come in Season 2 are now beginning to sprout, all due to a little misunderstanding.
