Interview
House of the Dragon director loved how Episode 9 was received by the viewers
Princess Rhaenys Targaryen’s grand entrance with her dragon Meleys made episode 9 of House of the Dragon rather memorable. When Rhaenys did nothing to stop the Greens, what appeared to be a potent moment became meaningless. And House of the Dragon director Clare Kilner relished the moment when the viewers were left in shock and disbelief.
Clare Kilner had fun connecting with the audience in a specific way
In a recent interview with Gold Derby, Kilner talked about her experience filming the penultimate episode of House of the Dragon Season 1, “I’ve never actually worked with so much CGI and so many different elements. It was really challenging.”
“When the episode came out, my friends threw a party and I saw everyone’s reactions when that dragon came out. It was really exciting and fun to connect with the audience in that way, to really be able to entertain and shock.”
Clare Kilner “felt a big responsibility” while filming Episode 9
She went on to describe how filming such an important episode was a big responsibility for her, “I felt a big responsibility. I knew that episode nines are often big turning points of the season, and I was also aware that I think I was the first woman to direct an episode nine, so I did feel a big responsibility.”
