George R.R. Martin assures fans ‘Winds of Winter’ will stay on track despite the writers’ strike
Fans of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire have been waiting a long time for his next book, The Winds of Winter. The last A Song of Ice and Fire book hit store shelves in 2011, a full decade ago. Although he updates his fans now and then, the fans are really annoyed as he is taking too long to finish. Martin recently reaffirmed that the Game of Thrones novel is still his priority.
WGA strike will not affect Winds of Winter
Martin wrote on his blog Not A Blog:
“Some of you, I fear, may be having anxiety attacks just now, on the mistaken assumption that this strike affects WINDS OF WINTER. You can relax. The WGA is a union of film and television writers. It has nothing to do with novels, short stories, or any other form of prose fiction, nor comic books and graphic novels, nor stage plays, nor the editing of collections and anthologies I have on-going projects in all those areas, and that work continues unabated. And WINDS continues to be priority number one.”
Why hasn’t George R. R. Martin finished Winds of Winter?
In a recent interview with filmmaker Kevin Smith, Martin revealed, “There are joyful days, when it really comes alive, and the characters come alive and the scene and the words are pouring out of you. It feels good. But there are not a lot of those days. There are also days where it’s hard.”
George R.R. Martin reassures fans House of The Dragon Season 2 will continue filming
In a recent post on his blog Not A Blog, Martin confirmed that the scripts were completed long ago and the production will proceed without much issue. He wrote:
🔥🐉 Embark on a riveting journey through Westeros with our Game of Thrones themed games – 🔡Hodordle | 🐲 Flappy Dragon. You can also interact with fans of the show on our Discord group🔥🐉
Across the ocean, the second season of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON started filming April 11 and will continue in London and Wales. The scripts for the eight s2 episodes were all finished months ago, long before the strike began, Every episode has gone through four or five drafts and numerous rounds of revisions, to address HBO notes, my notes, budget concerns, etc. There will be no further revisions. The writers have done their jobs; the rest is in the hands of the directors, cast and crew… and of course the dragons”

“On track”? The writing of the final volumes hasn’t been “on track” in over a decade. The last volume came out in 2011, which was 12 years ago!

Stay on track?! It’s been 12 years, he couldn’t be more off track…

LOL “stay on track”. That train was derailed over a decade ago and he’s shown absolutely no desire to get it going again.
“Oh, another Wild Cards book? Overjoyed, let me start.”
“What’s that, you want more Dunk and Egg? Sure!”
“HBO needs material for a new series? Of course, I’ll get right on it. When do you need me on set?”
“Winds of Winter? Golly it is so hard to find the time, and I don’t understand why.”
