George R.R. Martin supports fans petitioning for the revival of Amazon Prime’s My Lady Jane
George R. R. Martin wishes all the fans good luck
George R. R. Martin has been in the television industry for decades. He has worked on numerous shows besides working on his highly beloved A Song of Ice and Fire novel series, which birthed Game of Thrones. His experience has developed a keen eye for cinematic beauty, which is why he was sad when Amazon Prime’s My Lady Jane was canceled.
George R. R. Martin was saddened by My Lady Jane cancellation
My Lady Jane is an Amazon Prime’s historical drama developed by Meredith Glynn. George R. R. Martin is a fan of the show and was upset when it was canceled after Season 1. He wrote on his blog, Not A Blog:
“Speaking of television shows, I have always loved alternate history and Jane Grey, England’s nine-days queen, has always fascinated me. Small wonder, then, that I really enjoyed MY LADY JANE, a clever and original historical fantasy on Amazon Prime, set in an England full of witches and shapechangers, where Jane lasts more than nine days. Meredith Glynn is one of the showrunners.
I had the pleasure of working with her on one of the GAME OF THRONES spinoffs that HBO shelved a few years back, and knowing her talents, it did not surprise me that MY LADY JANE was so much fun. Witty and original, it reminded me a bit of THE GREAT, a show I loved. Alas, THE GREAT is gone, and it appears MY LADY JANE is too. Amazon did not renew it for a second season.
The show has a lot of fans, though, and they have launched a petition to get Amazon to order more. (Got to love the fans).
I wish them luck. Jane deserved more than nine days, or eight episodes.”

Fans petition for renewal of My Lady Jane for Season 2
My Lady Jane has gathered a lot of fans over the course of its single season. A petition was raised on change.org requesting the revival of the period drama. Thousands of fans have even shown their support on social media:
My Lady Jane has been cancelled after 1 season when it’s only been released in June 2024?? @PrimeVideo when we catch you. Why can’t we have anything good. The show has everything from drama, romance, fantasy, comedy, gorgeous costumes with protagonists that has insane chemistry. pic.twitter.com/lFHzdGv2XH

Cancelling My Lady Jane is such a huge misstep. I can’t think of another recent show that has so quickly overcome poor marketing and inspired such loyalty and conversation among seemingly everyone who watched it. It’s truly so magical and fun. It deserves more!!

When I saw Prime Video continue the ring of power, I'm really happy that they respected the show and also Tolkien. In simultaneous, I want this could happen with The Acolyte and My Lady Jane too🥺
