Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is the most hyped show of 2022. So far it has checked out all the parameters that were placed before its premiere. One of them being the casting of actors for various roles, and just like its predecessor, House of The Dragon has managed to impress the audience in that field as well. Gavin Spokes as the Hand to King Viserys Targaryen, Ser Lyonel Strong, had a short time on-screen in the series, however, his departure left a lasting impact on the audience. He recently talked about his audition experience in the official Game of Thrones podcast.

Spokes recalled, “I got a self-tape come in, so it would’ve been in lockdown. And I was in Hamilton the musical, at the time, and – not at that time. We were closed because of the pandemic. I was playing King George, and I was expecting to go back. And I’d done a couple of tellies, I’d done an episode on a Star Wars thing, and a couple of other bits and bobs. And then this self-tape comes in.”

“You are sent a couple of scenes, and they’re usually dummy scenes. So, I got some scenes that I think were from probably series four or five. Names are all changed but my character is called L.S. And it had just been announced, funnily enough, that Emma D’Arcy had been cast, and I’d fortunately done a play with Emma about 5 years ago. And I text them and said, “Listen, I think I’m up for this thing. Do you think it could be this?” And they said, “I think it could be, Gav.” I’ll put in a good word for you.”
