As we all are well aware by now, Game of Thrones Season 8 is currently filming, and we have been bringing you the latest updates. Recently all the buzz has shifted to the Winterfell set, at Moneyglass, Toome, where we saw increased activity recently, with some exciting night-time footage, followed up by daytime footage of the same. Now, in the latest update, we have big news that changes a lot of things. Read on!

SPOILER ALERT! Giant Game of Thrones Season 8 spoilers ahead! Consider yourself warned!

Now, as we had reported, footage showed Winterfell being under a sort of siege, and we could hear the extras chanting, which we speculated, could be a battering ram being used. There was a lot of smoke and buzz in the scene, which looked like Winterfell was having a rough time, and the presence of men had us thinking that it was Cersei‘s doing, rather than the Night King‘s, and now we have a giant new update: Winterfell has been burned down!

Yes, you heard it right. The production has set the entire set ablaze, as it can be seen in a new video posted to Facebook, by Game of Thrones fan, Steven McAuley. Watch it below:

We have previously wondered why the Winterfell set was fully built up, including parts usually added via CGI, and it’s apparent now that that was done so as to burn the whole damn thing down. Here’s a still from the video:

..and another video:

Now, of course there are multiple theories. Fire means that it is likely that Dragons are involved. It could be Daenerys intervening, or going the Mad Queen way, or it could be the undead Viserion. A report by the ever vigilant Belfast Telegraphsays that the fire was a part of a giant battle sequence involving 400-500 extras. Does that mean Cersei’s attempt to take the North went sideways? Whatever it is, is likely to be the last bit of filming we see at this set, unless the production plans to shoot in the ashes sometime later.

What do you guys think? This is major theory breeding material. Hit us up with all of yours, in the comments, down below!
