Game of Thrones season 7 trailer receives record number of views in first 24 hours
Game of Thrones fans had been patiently waiting for the season 7 trailer for a long time and once HBO released it, the fans just went crazy with excitement. Everyone was sharing the trailer and discussing the things they noticed in the trailer and that has helped the trailer go on a record breaking spree. HBO has reported that the trailer has amassed around 61 million views across various digital platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter in the last 24 hours.
With this, Game of Thrones seems to have received the most number of views for a TV show trailer ever in its first 24 hours! This won’t come as a surprise to many fans of the show as Game of Thrones is one of the most popular TV series in the world and this time the season premiere has been pushed back by 2 months. As a result, the trailer launch created a huge level of excitement among the fans and it’s clearly visible from the number of views the trailer has received.
Also, HBO has been teasing the fans with videos and pictures from the upcoming season and according to Deadline, the “Long Walk to the Throne” promo which was released recently has received 67.6 million distributed views and was for a short time, HBO’s most watched teaser/trailer ever! It broke the HBO record which was previously held by Game of Thrones season 6 trailer, which had received 63.5 million lifetime views.
Looking at these numbers, it is clear that the hype surrounding Game of Thrones season 7 is so high that it took just 1 day to reach the lifetime numbers of the previous record-breaking videos. However, the season 7 trailer hasn’t yet become HBO’s most watched online video yet and as the top spot is held by an unlikely contender. The “Donald Drumpf” segment from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is HBO’s most watched online video with 98 million lifetime views. But we are sure that it’s a matter of days before Game of Thrones season 7 trailer surpasses these numbers.
