Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams faces backlash for advertising H&M's sustainability initiative
Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is facing backlash online for partnering with H&M for its sustainability initiative. Williams is the brand’s global sustainability ambassador, and people are calling her out for alleged ‘greenwashing’. Greenwashing is the process of conveying false, wrong and misleading information that a certain company’s products are environmentally inclined to. For brands like H&M — that are understood to have perpetuated fast fashion in all these years — this recent initiative, therefore, is being viewed as questionable. People are wondering how fast fashion can even be ‘green’.
The fast-fashion brand announced on Monday, April 12 that the 23-year-old actress would “help lead a worldwide initiative towards a more sustainable fashion future.” The fashion brand also teased her new status on its Instagram page.

Maisie Williams talked to Vogue about the H&M initiative, “I will be working closely with experts within H&M to drive sustainability initiatives and shape the path towards an accessible and circular fashion future.”
But soon after it was dropped, people began to criticise the brand and the actor. Among them was sustainable fashion consultant Aja Barber, who took to Twitter to write that it is all a “bit disappointing”. “H&M is a massive greenwasher”.

One of the many benefits of being the star of a popular franchise is the amount of attention you get. Famous brands of clothing, apparels, jewellery etc. approach you for advertisement. Very often you will be the first one to try on their newest products. Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner, famed for her role Sansa Stark, became a mother last year in July. She’s slowly stepping back to work, serving on a new Louis Vuitton campaign highlighting its Tambour Street Diver timepiece.
Talking to Vogue, the actress revealed, “The way that I dress is always aligned with the way Nicolas designs, strength and femininity. My husband [Joe] is into watches, so he leads the way and tells me which watches are cool and which ones aren’t.” So far, she’s amassed around six styles, but she says the Tambour Street Diver is one of her favourites yet. “It’s big and it’s chunky, which I like,” she says. “I’ve always liked more masculine watches.”
“I’m excited about embracing fashion again; I’ve been dressing up for myself,” says Turner. “It’s actually really annoying though, because just as I’ve had a baby, everyone all of a sudden wants to wear low-rise jeans. It’s kind of offensive! Because I’m a mom, I’m desperate to be cool now. So I’m trying to go with baggy tops and baggy jeans,” she says. “I’m definitely excited to be putting my heels on, and doing my hair and makeup.”

Game of Thrones completed a decade of its run on 17th this month. HBO is holding special celebrations on account of the Iron anniversary. The Marathrone is at its peak and fans all over the world are busy reliving their favourite moments from the show. However, the date is special for another reason, it is the birthday of Sean Bean aka Game of Thrones’ Ned Stark. The veteran actor turned 62 on Saturday.
Fans know him for his notoriously frequent on-screen deaths earning him the title ‘CEO of dying on-screen.’ Sean has worked on some of the biggest projects in entertainment history like The Lord of The Rings, James Bond and Game of Thrones. From falling victim to Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond to getting beheaded on Game of Thrones, chances are you’re going to see Bean die anytime he’s on the big or small screen. Because he always plays these ill-fated parts to perfection, Bean is universally beloved.
As with seemingly most of his other roles, Bean didn’t live for every long on Game of Thrones, but his role as Lord Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark is still fondly remembered by fans. Many fans are using imagery of Bean on the HBO series to wish the actor happy birthday wishes.

The world is still recovering from the effects of the Red Wedding year 2020. Several vaccines are currently being used to fight the dreadful coronavirus. However, the second wave has already hit many countries making large scale immunization even more difficult. Celebrities are doing their part of raising awareness amongst the general masses. Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner recently posted a picture on Instagram after getting her first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Turner and her singer husband Joe Jonas have received their first Covid-19 vaccine shots. Joe took to Instagram on Friday to share a selfie of the two, showing off their red bandages after the shots. The selfie shows the two in their bathroom. While Joe is seen in a navy shirt, Sophie is seen in a white T-shirt. She is showing off her biceps and also the proof of her vaccination.

“Let’s (NOT) Get It!,” Joe captioned his post. While a few fans appreciated Joe and Sophie taking care of the health, most comments referenced Taylor Swift’s new song about Joe, Mr Perfectly Fine. “So you’re saying you just want to be perfectly fine,” wrote a fan. “How are you feeling? Perfectly fine?,” asked another.
The mass immunization program will take some time to reach all sections of the general public. Please stay safe and maintain social distancing, and talk to us in the comments below!
