Game of Thrones location Dark Hedges voted one of the most beautiful places in the world
Game of Thrones has had a lot of spectacular filming locations over the years, and taking a look at whatever leaks and news we have heard about the filming of Season 7, looks like we are getting more of the same. The Dark Hedges in County Antrim, in Northern Island, which are easily of the most (hauntingly) beautiful locations used in Game of Thrones, have now been voted as one of the most beautiful places in the world.
A list revealed by Architectural Digest magazine contains ten of the most beautiful locations in the world, with the hedges taking the seventh spot in the list, says a report by the Belfast Telegraph. Check out the footage of the Dark Hedges, below :
The Hedges have previously received similar accolades. It has been included in the list of 12 best road trips in the UK and Ireland by Continental Road Trip, and also in the list of the top enchanting spots in the world by Culture Trip.
The Hedges were apparent planted by the Stuart family which owns the Georgian mansion, Gracehill House, back in the 18th century. They have always been popular, but their popularity skyrocketed after they first appeared in Game of Thrones in Season 2, where the Hedges were shown as the King’s Road. The popularity has even put the Hedges at risk, with the increasing traffic causing damage, and it has been said that the road might get closed down altogether, to protect the Hedges.
Here are all the 10 locations from the Architectural Digest list :
- The Caminito in Buenos Aires’s La Boca district in Argentina
- Lombard Street with its hairpin bends in San Francisco
- The streets of Chefchaouen, Morocco
- The vine covered streets of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
- The streets in 1,000-year-old town of Lijiang, China
- Cherry Blossom Avenue in Bonn, Germany
- The Dark Hedges in Co Antrim
- The Champs-Elysees, Paris (left)
- The Brouwersgracht, Amsterdam
- The streets of Agueda in Portugal
