Game of Thrones' Hannah Waddingham gets an Emmy nomination for Ted Lasso
Game of Thrones is one of the most decorated series in television history. The highly acclaimed series still holds the record for the most number of Emmy Awards won to date. The show’s cast is still winning heaps of praise and awards, showcasing their amazing talent. Actress Hannah Waddingham, who played the famous ‘shame’ nun Septa Unella, has been nominated for an Emmy this year. The 47-year-old actress almost couldn’t believe that she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the series Ted Lasso.
In an interview with E! News, Waddingham revealed she was really surprised and confirmed more than once that the Apple TV+ series had earned 20 Emmy nominations on July 13. “Well, my manager came into my hotel room and said it,” she exclusively told E! News. “And I went, ‘Hold on, make sure you’ve got that right first before I get excited.’”
After seeing her name on the list of nominees, Hannah was at a total loss for words. But, thankfully the Game of Thrones alum has since embraced the big news and is ready to celebrate. “I’m gonna get absolutely smashed out of my mind,” she said with a laugh. “Why not? The work’s done.”
Apart from Hannah Waddingham, four other Game of Thrones alums have been nominated for Emmy Awards this year. They include Charles Dance (The Crown), Tobias Menzies (The Crown), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen’s Gambit), and Nathalie Emmanuel (Die Hart).

Game of Thrones had a lot of complex relationships, and most of them didn’t end well. However, the cast has managed to share a healthy relationship off-screen, some of them are even best buddies. Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke shared a season together as on-screen couple Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen, but their friendship behind-the-screens is exemplary.
The duo met at a birthday party last week, and they couldn’t help reminiscing their time spent together on Game of Thrones. They took to Instagram to show their affection, with photos capturing them in each other’s arms and lots of heart emojis. Clarke posted a photo on Saturday of Momoa literally sweeping her off her feet at a party for Game of Thrones co-creator David Benioff. She captioned it, “When your sun and stars rolls into town you check that he can still bench press a Khaleesi.”

George R. R. Martin is one of the most famous novelists in the world today, and his stories are loved far and wide. The TV adaptation of his A Song of Ice and Fire was adapted as Game of Thrones, the biggest show of the 21st century. However, he hasn’t been able to complete the novel series, the last book having been published a decade ago. Fans are desperately waiting for the next installment of the series the Winds of Winter. Though he keeps assuring us he is working on the project, the fans are convinced otherwise. Recently he announced his new graphic novel project, titled Voyaging, that he dreamed of ‘long before’ Game Of Thrones’ Westeros.
Martin wrote on his blog Not A Blog, “The Thousand Worlds stories spanned centuries and light-years and had their own cast of heroes, villains, legends, and colourful characters… none of them more colourful than the trader (and ecological engineer) Haviland Tuf, the protagonist of a long series of stories I collected together in the fix-up Tuf Voyaging.”
“I always meant to write more Tuf stories. At one point, back in the 80s, I planned a second collection of stories (Twice As Tuf) and a full-length Tuf novel (Tuf Landing)… but, alas, other novels and television and Ice & Fire came along, and what with one thing and another I never got around to writing them.”
“From time to time, I’ve even played with the idea of a television series about Tuf and his adventures… the stories are presently under option, as it happens, but… well, that hasn’t come to pass yet either. But I am thrilled to be able to say that Haviland Tuf and his cats (he likes cats, y’see) are coming back… in a graphic novel.”
Here is the official description:
George R.R. Martin and Raya Golden’s VOYAGING, VOLUME ONE: THE PLAGUE STAR, the first volume of a graphic novel adaptation of TUF VOYAGING, Martin’s short story collection set in his science fiction universe the Thousand Worlds, to be adapted and illustrated by Golden, which follows a group of unlikely spacefaring rogues on a mysterious mission involving unfathomable galactic fame and fortune (but only if they can survive), to Kaitlin Ketchum at Ten Speed Press, in an exclusive submission.
Martin also shared an artwork by RAYA GOLDEN, with the following comment:
“….these are rough color tests and they may or may not end up looking like this in the end, but I think they’re pretty close to the final versions which I’ll be working from once I finish up the script…”

The horrors of the COVID-19 pandemic don’t seem to end. The world has been suffering since the Red Wedding year 2020, and with the recent delta variant on the rise, things are looking serious once again. We lost a lot of important people in the wretched year, but it doesn’t seem like the curse has loosened its grip yet. Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, famous for playing Jaime Lannister on the show, is the latest celebrity to contract the virus, despite having being vaccinated and following all protocols.
Production for the upcoming action-thriller God is a Bullet has been temporarily suspended in Mexico after four cast members contracted Covid-19. According to a report by Daily Mail, the film’s main star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, actress Maika Monroe, Paul Johannson and director Nick Cassavetes all tested positive recently. The positive diagnosis comes despite all four being fully vaccinated.
The cast had been filming in Mexico City and other locations in the country since May and was due to shoot with Jamie Foxx in New Mexico this month.
We wish the cast and crew of the upcoming film a speedy recovery, and hopefully, they’ll get better very soon. Send in your well wishes in the comments below!
