Game Of Thrones fans are freaking out after spotting a creepy detail in the latest episode

Catelyn Stark is long gone and those of us book fans who were hoping for her to reappear on Game of Thrones as Lady Stoneheart have been disappointed for a while now. In the books, Catelyn comes back as the reanimated corpse Lady Stoneheart to take revenge from her family’s murderers at the Red Wedding. Though her daughter Arya seems to have taken up the responsibility of killing everyone who was involved in the Red Wedding, fans do still miss Lady Stoneheart. But it seems as though in the latest episode of season 7, ‘The Spoils of War’, someone who looks a lot like Catelyn Stark was spotted in the background. As a Redditor points out, in the sparring scene between Brienne and Arya when Arya tells Brienne that she had sworn to protect “both her mother’s daughters“, a woman in a long green dress with wavy auburn hair walks past.

This happens when Arya utter’s the word ‘mother’, and the woman resembling the dead Lady Stark eerily walks past. And that’s not the only time she appears. According to another Redditor, later on in the same scene, the woman appears behind Arya for a fleeting moment. Check out the videos below:

Fans weren’t the only ones disappointed when Lady Stoneheart didn’t make it into the show. George R.R Martin himself disagreed with the decision of the show runners because Stoneheart plays a pretty important role in the books. “That was probably the first major diversion of the show from the books and, you know, I argued against that, and David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] made that decision,” he had said.

She’s pivotal in the Podrick and Brienne track as well. She questions Brienne’s loyalty in the books when Stoneheart spots her with the Lannister hilt on her sword. If the show runners decided to include this ‘ghost’ of Catelyn Stark indeed, it might just be a nod to the books to indicate that Catelyn is making sure Brienne is keeping her oath. Game of Thrones has a habit of leaving Easter eggs, so we wouldn’t put it past the makers to have included a possible Catelyn Stark ghost in Winterfell. Turns out there are more than two Lady Starks at home now.
