The brewing war didn’t happen
The war referred to is the impending conflict between the rival factions of House Targaryen, specifically between Aegon II and Rhaenyra’s camps. Throughout the season, tensions have been building, and alliances have been forged and broken, setting the stage for a massive and brutal war. Ewan Mitchell was asked about the finale’s unexpected twist, where the anticipated war didn’t materialize, leaving fans with a two-year wait for the conflict to unfold. He responded thoughtfully, acknowledging that the delay might be frustrating for some viewers, who have complained about the show being slow for season 2.
“I think there’s moments for everyone. What I love about Aemond… it’s like he can’t sit still. He has to be moving. And he possesses such a kind of catalytic energy that whenever he’s on screen, you know something’s gonna happen. So it’s nice. And the Council Table, there’s so much conflict between these relationships that we all share around this table that I loved to dive into.”
