Emilia Clarke talks about wearing the Daenerys Targaryen wig for eight years

Emilia Clarke is known to the world as Daenerys Targaryen, one of the biggest characters on Game of Thrones, but there had always been one striking difference between the appearances of the character, and Emilia herself : the hair! While Daenerys has silver blonde hair, Emilia is a brunette in real life, and she has been wearing a wig for the part, all along. She has often said that she wouldn’t get recognized by fans because of this, and recently we reported about how she dyed her hair the same color as her character’s. In a new interview, Emilia talked about eight years of wearing the Daenerys wig. Read on!

As you might know, Emilia had recently recorded a commercial for Dolce & Gabanna, in Italy. She spoke to Vogue Paris about it, and of course, Game of Thrones came up. Speaking of what was her fondest memory on the show, Emilia said :

“Wearing the blonde platinum wig from Daenerys the very first time is a truly memorable memory. 8 years later, I’m still so excited to have it.”

Despite this, we’re guessing she dyed her hair mostly as a tribute to her character for the last run. She went on to speak about a few other things, so read the full interview, here.
