Emilia Clarke finds more ‘creative fulfilment’ while doing Indie films

Game of Thrones boasted a host of highly talented actors, and Emilia Clarke is surely one of them. The 35-year-old star, famous for playing Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen, is soon to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the upcoming series Secret Invasion, where she is rumoured to play the role of Abigail Brand. However, her heart really lies in the creative realm of indie movies.
What attracted Emilia Clarke to the script of The Pod Generation?
Clarke recently played the lead role in The Pod Generation. She told thethings.com what got her onboard with the script, “Honestly, this was something that I’m so fortunate to have a producer credit on it, but I was just hellbent to be in this movie and therefore needed the movie to exist for me to be in it, so it was kind of like that.”
“So I kind of [came to have] this producorial role simply through my bloody-mindedness of just desperately, desperately wanting to work with Sophie and desperately wanting to do this film. I have a production company and that has kind of been folded within this which is just the best thing in the whole wide world.”
Why does Emilia Clarke love filming indie movies?
Clarke went on to explain what she wants to do more in her career ahead, “The thing that I want most for the rest of my career is to work with as many auteurs and filmmakers in the independent film space and be as creatively fulfilled as I possibly can be. And I’ve had access to some incredible experiences and been able to work with some astonishing people.”
“I absolutely adore high concept ideas and material. That’s the stuff I really enjoy reading as well, kind of magical realism. I think that’s where the joy and of storytelling comes into its own. When you are able to give someone a world that is not our own to explore incredibly big philosophical ideas. To do as many of those as I possibly can moving forward would be excellent.”
Will Emilia Clarke return to Game of Thrones?
As much as she loved her role, no, Emilia Clarke will not return to the realm of Game of Thrones as Daenerys anytime soon. With a Jon Snow sequel currently in the works headed by Kit Harington himself, there’s a slight chance of her making a cameo, but that’s it.
