Dean-Charles Chapman says he and Isaac Hempstead Wright are real-life besties
Game of Thrones ended back in 2019 leaving a number of fans with teary eyes. Over the several seasons of the series, we had grown to love many characters. Some of them died and some witnessed a big shift in their arcs – Daenerys Targaryen being the biggest example. Talking about the awesome cast members, they still feel connected like a family, having worked in the series for around nine years. Same is the case with Dean-Charles Chapman and Isaac Hempstead Wright who are real-life best friends.
Dean-Charles Chapman, who played Tommen Baratheon in Game of Thrones recently talked to Entertainment Weekly, telling them that despite sharing no screentime together in the series, he is a good friend of Isaac Hempstead Wright. He told them:
“I speak to Isaac Hempstead Wright a lot. He’s one of my best mates…I speak to him every day.”
Isaac Hempstead Wright played Bran Stark aka Three-Eyed Raven in the series and didn’t share any screentime with Dean. Yet, these actors have often been seen together on Social Media. A common thing among them is that both of them were crowned the King of the Seven Kingdoms in the series.
Chapman is being praised for his role in the movie 1917 as Lance Corporal Thomas Blake. The movie is up for 10 Oscars this year at the 92nd Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Sam Mendes. The movie also stars another Game of Thrones alum, Richard Madden (who played Robb Stark in the series) as Lieutenant Joseph Blake.
Chapman was delighted when he got the news that Madden would be playing his brother in the movie. He told the EW:
“I remember [Mendes] telling me, at a table read, I asked who’s going to be playing my brother, and he said Richard Madden…My first reaction is, I don’t look anything like Richard Madden, so I can’t see that. But in the film, Richard did a really good job of trying to sound like Blake as well. So that worked.”
