Ian McShane says Game of Thrones fans should “get a f*****g life”

Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows, ever, and as such, it has a massive fan base. Like any fandom, this one too tends to get a little obsessive at times. Ian McShane, who played Brother Ray in Season 6 of Game of Thrones, had previously given the fans a spoiler about his character, before the episode aired, and he annoyed a lot of fans by doing so, which annoyed him in return. He had replied saying “I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a f***ing life. It’s only tits and dragons.”

However, that wasn’t the end of it. In a recent interview scheduled to be published in the April issue of Empire magazine, Ian McShane talked a bit more about how obsessive Game of Thrones fans are. In a report by theBelfast Telegraph, McShane was quoted as saying :

“The show is huge but some fans seem to identify with it (too closely). You want to say, ‘Have you thought about your lifestyle? Maybe you should get out a little more.’”

When asked about potentially giving away spoilers, McShane said :

“Firstly, you love it. Secondly, you’ll have forgotten by the time it comes out. And what am I giving away? A character beloved by everybody returns. Get a f****** life.”

Ouch!

Though we agree that it wasn’t a massive spoiler, per se, and that fans shouldn’t be obsessing so much over a minor one, but to imply that Game of Thrones fans don’t have a life only because they are overly concerned with spoilers, is a bit too much. However, if you look at it from his angle, he has every right to be annoyed for still being chased about a minor spoiler that he unthinkingly gave out months ago, so maybe we fans should take it down a peg, too.
