The second season ended with tensions high between Queen Rhaenyra and King Aegon Targaryen. War is imminent as both factions prepare for the Dance of the Dragons. Filming for the third season begins soon, with Condal hinting at ambitious visuals and engaging narratives. Season 3 will feature intense conflicts, political intrigue, and the iconic dragons central to Targaryen power.
Ryan Condal provides timeline updates for House of the Dragon Season 3
Showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed that House of the Dragon Season 3 will begin filming in early January 2025. The production will run until late fall, with significant pre-production activities starting immediately. Sets will be constructed, actors will rehearse, and preparations will continue through the first quarter. Filming is expected to conclude before December 20, 2025.
Condal shared these updates during his podcast, The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of. He mentioned the team’s readiness for the most organized and efficient production yet. Despite speculation that filming might start in March, Condal emphasized that preparations will begin earlier to ensure seamless execution of the season’s large-scale production.
Condal refrained from revealing specific dates for filming activities but assured fans of significant updates throughout 2025.

What to expect in Season 3
