The weirwood tree in House of the Dragon is based on a real person

The faces on the weirwood trees in Westeros have also caused much intrigue among the fans of George R. R. Martin‘s works. These creepy features have also led rise to a lot of theories, like the history of the continent being recorded in their eyes, and their connection to the 3-eyed Raven. However, there’s something more to those intricately designed faces; at least one of them is based on a real person.
The weirwood tree has the face of Miguel Sapochnik’s mom
The behind-the-scenes show The House that Dragons Built chronicles a lot that happened on set, with stories about cast and crew to the building of different props.
In the fourth episode, one of the previous showrunners, Miguel Sapochnik, said, “We needed a face for the godswood tree, and I just decided that it should be my mum. She wasn’t impressed, either. She was like, ‘What’s that weird face?’ And I was like, ‘Well, it’s you, actually.'”
Why did Miguel Sapochnik leave House of the Dragon?
As previously reported, Miguel Sapochnik left the program after a “long standoff” over his wife Alexis Raben’s position as a producer for the second season. In the first season of the program, Raben appeared in a few episodes as Talia and was given credit as a producer.
However, Sapochnik requested that Raben be added to the production team for Season 2, but HBO is thought to have turned her down because of her lack of expertise.
