Did Bethany Antonia (Baela Targaryen) just confirm a book theory for Season 2?
Season 2 will introduce two new characters who are important players in House of the Dragon. The two characters are Addam and Alyn of Hull. Addam will go on to become a dragonrider and fight for Rhaenyra’s team, The Blacks. Both brothers claim to be the baseborn sons of Laenor Velaryon.
However, since it is known that Laenor prefers the company of men, many believe that the two are actually the sons of Corlys Velaryon, The Sea Snake.
It wasn’t clear from the books how House of the Dragon would handle this detail. Now, Actress Bethany Antonia may have dropped a big hint regarding it. Antonia, who plays the Sea Snake’s granddaughter, Baela Targaryen, shared an Instagram story reacting to actor Abubakar Salim’s speech at this year’s Game Awards.
Bethany Antonia masters the art of slightly spoiling things without giving too much away for show only watchers 👌

Salim plays Addam of Hull in the second season of House of the Dragon. Antonia captioned her Instagram story with the words “Gwarn uncle.” “Gwarn” is slang for “go on.”Baela Targaryen is the daughter of Daemon Targaryen and Laena Velaryon, the daughter of Corlys.
By this logic, Addam would indeed be Baela’s uncle if he were Corlys’ son. Although Antonia’s post doesn’t spoil any details, it could be a hint for book readers. Steve Toussaint also mentioned in an interview that a lot of Corlys Velaryon’s past deeds would come back to haunt him.
This may very well be an indication of his bastards resurfacing. In the books, some theorized that Corlys never acknowledged his bastards in fear of his wife, Rhaenys Targaryen. There are multiple indications that the show will go this route. However, we do not yet have confirmation on this detail. We will have to wait and watch when House of the Dragon Season 2 comes out in Summer 2024.
