House of the Dragon’s Phoebe Campbell (Rhaena Targaryen) wins the Black British Theatre Award

Fans of Game of Thrones have been overwhelmingly supportive of the prequel House of the Dragon, praising it for its characters, storylines, and other compelling elements. Along with making an impression during awards season, the prequel series was even nominated for multiple Emmys and won the esteemed Golden Globe. The show’s cast is also winning multiple accolades, the latest one being Phoebe Campbell (Rhaena Targaryen).

Phoebe Campbell wins best nonbinary performance in a play at the BBTA

House of the Dragon is one of those shows that has never shied away from LGBTQ+ representation. The show’s star, Phoebe Campbell, has championed the cause, winning Best Non Binary Performer in a Play Award at The Black British Theatre Awards 2023. She received the award for her performance in the play – “The Importance of Being Earnest”.

What is the Black British Theatre Awards?

Every year, Black artists and performers in the UK are honored with the Black British Theatre Awards (BBTAS), which honor excellence in this field. The BBTAS was initially developed in 2019 by Omar F. Okai and Solange Urdang. At the Young Vic Theatre in London, an inspiring event celebrates and recognizes Black performers and creatives in the theatre industry for their work.
