Game of Thrones’ famous Dark Hedges location to lose a number of iconic trees
Over the years, Game of Thrones has used a wide variety of sites for filming. The Dark Hedges in County Antrim, Northern Island, is one of them. Since their appearance as the King’s Road in Season 2 of Game of Thrones, their popularity has skyrocketed. However, the Hedge might be losing a number of its iconic trees that made up much of the scenic beauty of the site.
A number of trees to be cut down at The Dark Hedges
Since the route was utilized as a filming location for the HBO series Game of Thrones, the trees have grown in popularity as a tourist destination. However, the Save the Dark Hedges campaign group is worried that the trees’ faster deterioration is a result of the site’s increased foot traffic and foot traffic. The stunning location in Northern Ireland made famous by the fantasy series Game of Thrones may need to have up to 11 trees chopped down.
The trees of Dark Hedges are in a dire state
According to a report, one tree is dead and the majority are in poor condition. A campaigner has stated that there is currently a risk to tourists’ health and safety. As per the Coleraine Chronicle, a report commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure and Tree Safety experts concluded that 11 trees were to be removed. However, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council approval is required because six are covered by protection orders. The matter is scheduled to be discussed by the council later on Wednesday.
