A deleted scene from House of the Dragon Season 1 reportedly featured Aemond mentioning Daeron
Fans of House of the Dragon got an excellent glimpse at the upcoming Targaryen generation in the sixth episode of Season 1. On the other side, Daeron Targaryen is the only Targaryen prince we haven’t yet met. He is Queen Alicent and King Viserys’ youngest son. Daeron is recognized as the kindest of his brothers in the book Fire & Blood. He will show up in Season 2 as well. Additionally, he would have been addressed a moment earlier in season 1.
Daeron was supposed to be namedropped in Season 1
The civil war between the Blacks and the Greens would be a brutal one, and Aemond would need all the help he could get. According to a report by the fansite Hotd Croatia, after accidentally causing a big war, Aemond tells his grandfather Otto he wishes his brother Daeron was with them. Otto tells him that Daeron’s place is in Oldtown. Some speculate the scene was against Aemond’s spotlight-hogging nature, and hence was cut from the show.
Why didn’t Daeron Targaryen appear in House of the Dragon Season 1?
When Daeron was twelve years old, Alicent’s cousin Ormund Hightower engaged him to serve as his squire and cupbearer. The leader of House Hightower is Lord Ormund Hightower. Perhaps this person’s father is Alicent’s uncle, whom we meet in episode 5. Considering that Daeron was absent from the most recent episode, he could already be in Oldtown.
